General Worldbuilding
This is a more casual collection of general worldbuilding tidbits that do not fit on any of the other pages. Mostly... trivia and fun facts! This page still needs to have links added to it!
Ideally a lot of this information will receive more lore and its own page eventually, but for now you can simply learn the gist of it here.
QUICK INTRO FACTS: Fantasy world. Magic is real. Around the middle ages but heavily anachronistic technology leads to a very weird mixed vibe of what stage of human society I could compare them to. More on that later, but generally picture middle ages but with very simple computers and fridges.
Sky is slightly darker blue. More dark green plants, more coniferous forests than deciduous forests.
There are currently no wars, it is a time of peace. Relatively. Necromancy and other people who push magic to the extreme are a huge problem but aren't exactly like an organized military or anything.
Nomadic life styles very common and downright expected of young adults. These young adults are usually referred to as freelance adventurers, they take on commissions by whatever town theyre stopping at to do work for people. The kind of work varies, there is a high demand for people willing to go fetch rare items, find lost people and animals, cull dangerous beasts that have grown too confident around settlements, etc.
Oh yeah, "people" will frequently be used as a catch-all term for every sapient species here.
There is no systemic oppression on Rhune.
Rhune is smaller than Earth and has a much lower population of people.
At the time of writing this I am still working on a canon map and globe for Rhune, but uh, here's a rough idea of it next to Earth. Rhune's model was made in Paint3D, and the Earth model was pulled from its 3D library!

Most gods do not interact with mortals... But that does not mean none of them do. Some gods are much more sociable than others. Alliryzor and Ruuriga are good examples of this. Ryzor lives within a hive of ximazan that she's blessed with a boon of immortality, and Ruuriga visits her followers once a year and gives a blessing to those who win the courtship ritual during Ydruuri, the sirrcay summer festival.
Rhun's technology levels are... interesting and anachronistic. The human technology from Before has been salvaged and reverse-engineered, but much of it was deemed worthless and goes almost completely unused. No one cares about using giant poluting metal death traps to travel when you could just... Rent a really epic dragon to carry you around instead.
Some examples of kept technologies would be food storage, plumbing, medical equipment, building styles, clothing patterns, and simple computers that are not connected to wi-fi.
Guns exist but are not used against other people as a well-placed fire spell will lead to the armed person being unarmed... Literally.
Magic is real and widely practiced, but rarely mastered. It is a very hard skill to get into and requires lots of studying, but some spells are much easier to learn than others. So the average person can't shoot lightning out of their fingertips and teleport across the planet, but they probably can use a simple fire spell to light their candles.
Magic changes the color of one's blood, so any species can have any blood color.
Also, people with more magic in their systems usually smell pretty good. Magic works in fun and mysterious ways, and one of those fun mysterious ways is giving your natural scent a faint unnatural tint to it. Basically like wearing a really weak cologne. The smell varies from person to person, some become flowery and others more earthy, etc.
Levitation magic is different from most other magics as it affects an area rather than a person. There is a half-circle of space where everything within it levitates and everything outside of it is unimpacted by the spell. The height and width of the half-circle depends on the strength of the spell.
Rhun doesn’t particularly have a set organized government system. It could most easily be described as anarcho-communism, though it isn't and I am simply using a term from our world to describe theirs with less words. Towns and cities usually end up creating their own law systems and cultures that determine what is and isn't allowed and how those who do what isn't allowed are dealt with.
And of course there is no overarching law enforcement, aside from the presence of guards here and there. Crime usually just isn’t committed. When everything is free and there is no money, suddenly people have no reason to steal from one another! But overall guards handle it, and so do other regular people in some cases. Most cities have a council of at least 5 people to help make larger decisions community-wide decisions as well.
Oh yeah, and there's no real monetary system either. Everything is either free or costs coins that vary depending on location.
How I usually describe it is like this: Most food is free. A sandwich, a normal cake, some apples, and wine would all be free. A 9-tier wedding cake would cost a few coins. Usually the determining factor is the effort put into it by the artisan that created it.
As I've repeated, it varies from town to town. Rather complicated, as each town is basically it's own micro-government.
There are no real known conversion rates between currencies, people just don't give enough shits if I'm being real. It's usually just up to the bartering individuals to decide what an item is worth per currency.
Nudity is generally acceptable, and how much it is accepted depends on the town. In most places, so long as your genitals are covered you're okay. Those with internal genitals can get away with being completely nude, while species such as humans and dolorvirr must cover up. This varies, as I said, some places may ask you to cover up even if you are simply shirtless. The usual exception to this is basytier as their genitals are internal, the cloaca is not particularly in-view since they are quadrupedal, AND not to mention they simply come from cultures where nudity is the norm and being clothed is a rare occurrence!
Gender and sex are not assigned or labeled upon birth, and in most places children are raised in a gender neutral manner until they request otherwise. The exception to this is some ximazan hives who think it's ok because they use the word caste rather than gender.
Corrupted magic is a phenomenon that's extremely rare and is assumed to be a sort of "glitch" in reality.
